Tamano City is home to many historically valuable sites and historic sites! Why not take a stroll while thinking about ancient history? This Hachihama History Course is a course full of historical romance, with many historic remains and buildings, including "Yotaro-sama," beloved by many as the god of legs and hips; the ruins of Hachihama Castle, from which you can get a panoramic view of Hachihama 's townscape; Honmachi Street, where the old townscape remains intact; and the Hachihama Townscape Preservation Center.
If you are driving, please use the parking lot at Hachihama Civic Center and start from the center!
By taking a stroll with the volunteer guides of Tsutsuji no Kai, you can hear plenty of little anecdotes, trivia, and stories related to history! We look forward to hearing from you.
Let's visit Yotaro Shrine!
Let's start from Hachihama Civic Center and head towards Yotaro-sama!
This shrine enshrines Ukita Motoie, a warlord from the Sengoku period who lost his life due to a leg injury during the Battle of Hachihama in February 1582. He is worshipped as the god of legs and hips. Start your historical walk by visiting the shrine and praying for a safe journey!

From the ruins of Hachihama Castle, you can get a panoramic view of the town of Hachihama!
This castle was built in 1581 by Ukita Naoie to control Kojima.

Take a stroll through the old town
Take a leisurely stroll down the old Honmachi Street and head towards the Hachihama Townscape Preservation Center! This facility is the former home of Fujiwara Gentaro, who served as the former mayor of Yahama and a member of the House of Representatives, and is a representative traditional building in the Hachihama area. It is a relatively large townhouse along Honmachi Street, with a townhouse-style main building and a detached building and storehouse on the garden side. The garden is also surrounded by wooden fences on the sides and back.
